Michigan Roads Are In Trouble: Here's Why

Highway Trust Fund in peril in Washington

Will Congress Undo the Highway Trust Fund Knot? Or Not...

As if we don't have enough problems with the Michigan legislature failing to do anything about a long term road fix. It's been years and like kids fighting over toys, no one in Lansing can or will give up anything. Not even to make our roads safer.

Now the money Michigan gets from the federal Highway Trust Fund is in a knot and in danger of falling away like my
wheel rim into a deep pothole abyss.

This online article "Congress Is a Confederacy of Dunces" makes a valid point about a Washington congress that is as incompetent and incapable as ours here in Lansing.
Imagine - "a new long-term extension of the Highway Trust Fund - some cockeyed optimists even dream of funding it for as long as five or six years instead of what would be the 36th short-term extension." - Michael Winship, Huffington Post

Toll roads in Michigan would suck. Here's proof

Caution - You Better Believe It!

Here is a solution to fixing our lousy roads in Michigan. Sell them to our corporate friends, let them ruin the roads while collecting millions in profit. Then knock on our corporate owners doors for a job when our term limits kick our butts out on the pothole riddled streets. They'll be glad to hire us.

Well forget it. If you guys in our Michigan legislature think that is a good idea then think again.  Oh, there I go thinking that they CAN think.

This article is a must read, but beware. It is scary. Are Private Tool Roads Coming to Michigan? It Could Happen.

"...there’s a monster lurking over the horizon that few seem to be talking about. Toll roads — the privatization of Michigan’s highways remains a very real possibility if the state fails to put a viable long-term fix in place." - Amy Kerr Hardin, Democracy Tree
The article goes on to give examples of terrible toll road scenarios, all too close to home.

While I am not holding my breath for any fix to come in September to kill the prospect of a "lurking privatization monster", I am told that the Pope is visiting Washington. Maybe he'll perform a miracle on behalf of us and do what Lansing refuses to and can't do. Maybe the Pope is our only Hope. (sorry). Just sayin'

If you think higher Gas Taxes suck.
How about This Every Day into work !?

Call your representative today. He's waiting...

Drive Careful,
Will
