Jackson Mayor Says Pray for Potholes - God Will Fix Our Roads

'If God can part the Red Sea for Moses, he can fix the roads in Jackson'

Jackson Mississippi that is.

The mayor of Jackson MS says that the people of his fair city should pray for the good lord to get to the job done of fixing their pothole filled thoroughfares.

Apparently it is gonna take a lot of prayer.

Jackson, Miss. Mayor Tony Yarber

Does that surprise you? Is he sincere?

Probably no, and Probably yes.

'Boy, can these roads use a Miracle !'

In a recent post I quipped that with the Pope visiting the U.S., maybe his Holiness would perform a miracle and fix the Highway Trust Fund (since congress won't) and Michigan roads will get the benefit.

Now I have read that Jackson MS. Mayor Tony Yarber is addressing the city’s infrastructure problem on Twitter. , believing that praying for God to fix the potholes is what will do the trick. And people are saying he is serious! It seems that the city is woefully short of funds and he has budgeted pretty much nothing for its road maintenance. Without normal upkeep and repair even roads in a milder climate like Jackson will crumble into a Michigan like highway disaster.

Understand the frustration of the people in Jackson. Some people pray to God, a god, for help and for things to get better and that is their business. Will it help? I don't think so. Not with roads. However don't try to force people to believe what you do, please. And don't think that you can use it as an excuse for what you can not or will not do to address a real problem.

Too bad for the people of Jackson; this mayor is for real and apparently dead serious as shown by his answer to a questioner on Twitter:

So much for crazy when it comes to fixing roads.

Now in Michigan, some say term limits are to blame for no road fix. Legislators don't have enough time in office to make the needed contacts or understand the situation relating to or crappy and dangerous roads. Really?! Does it really take more than 4 years, 6, 8, to realize that Mi roads are crap? An abomination? Dangerous? NO! Yet still, late September 2015 and NO ROAD REPAIR SOLUTION.

My feeling, that is I am starting to get the idea, that the chance of seeing better roads in Michigan in my lifetime Doesn't Stand a Prayer !  Thank you Michigan. Hope the Pope doesn't try to drive his Fiat here.

Drive careful,
Will
