China Stock Market Crashes When Michigan Governor Snyder Visits

Michigan residents fear China market tumble will affect their own finances.

"Oh - This not good"

Last week around the 21st of August, governor Snyder left Michigan to visit China, and immediately after his arrival the China stock market crashed in spectacular fashion. How big was China’s stock market crash? It's been dubbed “Black Monday” - August 24th ending with Chinese equities down 8.5%, wiping out hundreds of billions of dollars in market capitalisation.

Was Snyder's visit and the Chinese market crash a coincidence? Probably. Well sure, of course. But it got me thinking. If governor Snyder
wants to build "economic bridges between Michigan and China", yet he can't even fix ONE BRIDGE here in his own state, what is the deal?

"Can I build a bridge or What !?"

Next week Snyder will return to Michigan and start his work here again, and nothing will get done on our roads. No real sustainable program to fix and maintain our roads. Is that a coincidence? Don't you believe it.

The reason our roads are not fixed and are still lousy, the blame that is, can be placed largely on governor Snyder's shoulders. After all, it is his job to influence the Michigan Legislature to accomplish his agenda. And he has stated that part of his agenda is to get a real road plan in place for our state. After all didn't he interview that hapless chunck of concrete that fell off a Michigan bridge about how it felt to have nearly conked someone on the noggin while passing underneath to get his point accross?  Not only has he said he wants Michigan roads fixed, it is in fact his constitutional obligation. And it is also the constitutional obligation of the entire legislature. Yet, he cannot control his party who continue to insist they can fix our roads, which of course cost money, without raising any taxes.

Incidentally, the requirement to levy taxes for the needs of the state is another constitutional obligation that members of the Michigan legislature have sworn to. Some feel that if they are not doing that, and they should be fired. Another story indeed...

On another note it's a good thing Mr. Snyder gave up his crazy idea of running for president. Perhaps he didn't realize it but there are a lot more roads in 50 States then there are in just one. And there is one thing I hate to see. That is the captain of a ship on rough waters, leaving his post to try to be an admiral. Should be ashamed. (BTW, get it, rough waters - lousy roads.) Anyway, don't expect much to get done in the way of fixing our roads in September. I would not make that bet for all the tea in China.

And this is neat. One of the things the Governor was pushing in China was Tourism. Yes, Getting the Chinese to visit Michigan. Gee, what can they expect to see? Great Lakes? Great golf courses? Great outdoor sports? How about Great Big Potholes !

"What the Fruck Michigan!"

So when it comes to fixing Michigan's lousy roads, expect more of the same for the rest of this year. Nothing! Don't give up your helicopter Mr. Governor. Just say'in.

Drive Careful,
Will
