It's Obvious - Three Reasons Our Roads Are Lousey

If you've been around Michigan for a while and you have read some news, and have experienced first hand the darn right crappy roads here, you too may have come to some similar conclusions:

Here are Just 3 Obvious Reasons why our Michigan roads are in such bad shape.

1. Michigan's Really Bad Weather

Here in Michigan we have freezing winters and scorching summers. The resulting Thaw / Freeze cycle causes the cracks in the roads to grow and when chunks of pavement pop out, you have the beginning of a pothole.

2.  Big Heavy Trucks Pounding the Roads

When big trucks weighing dozens of tons with hard tires (70 + pounds of air pressure) hit small cracks and potholes, they become big potholes. Some big enough to wreck a cars suspension.

And the Third Obvious Reason our roads are lousy...

3.  Self-Centered Career Politicians With Only One Thought

This is a BIG one. When tough decisions need to be made to take money from corporate tax breaks or wherever - to plan ahead - to Really Fix our Infrastructure, our lawmakers in Lansing won't do anything that will jeopardize their chances of getting re-elected. But what about the average voter you may ask ? Don't politicians care about us? Well, how much money have you given your elected official(s) lately (excluding their paycheck they got with your vote) ?

Of course there are more reasons for bad roads, but if you can't see these three obvious ones, then you either don't drive or maybe don't care. That of course is up to you.

Now I may have simplified these three reasons, but I am trying to make a point. If you want your roads fixed. If you are tired of paying to fix your car because of bad roads. If you want what other states have - good roads. If you don't want tourisim or our states reputation to suffer, then - Let Our Polititians Know How You Feel and that they Won't Have a Job if They Don't Act Now !

Why not leave a comment, sign up for emails of my latest posts and beleive me, Lansing will start to take notice.

Thanks folks and
Drive Carefully,
Will
